Returning to the Essentials: The power of less <br>with the Thai Forest Tradition
23 Jan 2026

Stepping into the quiet simplicity of the Thai Forest Tradition in Thailand this New Year break reminded us of what deep practice can look like when everything unnecessary falls away.

Surrounded by nature, long walks through the forest, and extended periods of stillness, we once again witnessed the profound power of simplicity —not only calming the nervous system, but sharpening attention, clarity, and inner stability. In these environments, meditation is not something added on top of life. It is life.

Monastic Rhythm Immersion

During this New Year break, Dr. Chuong Ngo visited and stayed with the forest monks, immersing in their daily rhythm to learn directly from the tradition and to exchange perspectives—practice-to-practice, experience-to-experience. This included long walking meditation through the rainforest, joining the morning alms round through the village, and taking part in the New Year celebration, where those who wished could dedicate the night to an overnight meditation.

Quantified Meditation in the Thai forest

A key highlight for All Here was the opportunity to record EEG from highly trained forest monks using our technology.

In a tradition known for its purity, discipline, and distance from the modern world, we initially wondered whether neurotechnology might feel intrusive—or simply out of place.

The opposite happened.

The monks were open, supportive, and genuinely curious. When we shared brainwave patterns and signals, they immediately related them to their own inner experience and years of training. The conversations felt natural and grounded, moving effortlessly between practice language and scientific language—between direct experience and measurable data.

For All Here, this moment matters.

It shows that bringing science and technology to wisdom traditions can be done with humility and respect—without disturbing what is essential. When the intention is right, measurement doesn’t have to take away from practice. It can become a supportive mirror: helping illuminate deep concentration, silence, and stability, and making subtle inner training more understandable through real signals.

Connecting Tradition and Technology

This experience strengthens our mission: to bridge traditions, science, and technology—supporting practitioners while honoring the depth of their path.
